How to Troubleshoot Your 5G Connection?

If you cannot connect to the 5G network, please check the methods to connect below:

Step 1: 5G Data Plan & SIM Card

1. 5G data plan & SIM card
– Make sure you’ve subscribed to a 5G data plan offered by your network provider. (Unlimited ones are highly recommended).
Note
1. Operator will take upto 4~48 hours to activate 5G.
2. Older SIM cards may not be compatible with 5G, you may need to renew your SIM card from operator store.

2. Welcome offer(JIO only)
Please make sure you have received the operator’s “5G Welcome Offer” when you have opted for an unlimited data plan.

*For assistance with activation, please reach out to your local SIM card operator (eg. Jio, Airtel) Contact their customer service or visit a designated store for support.

Step 2: 5G coverage Area

1. JIO 5G coverage area
Please ensure that you have in 5G coverage area. List of cities having 5G network coverage can be found at www.jio.com/5g.

2. Airtel 5G Coverage Area
Please ensure that you have in 5G coverage area. List of cities having 5G network coverage can be found at www.airtel.in/airtel-5g-cities.

*5G services are currently available in specific regions, with expansion plans as the infrastructure develops. Even if you are in a 5G service area, you may not be able to use the 5G network service depending on the network conditions of your network provider.

Step: 3 Enable 5G on Your Phone

JIO USERS

  • Step 1:
    Tap on “Settings”
  • Step 2:
    Select “Network & internet”
  • Step 3:
    Select “SIM card & mobile network”
  • Step 4:
    Select “5G (preferred) /4G/3G/2G” and “Auto select (recommended)”
  • Step 5:
    Tap on “Restart”

AIRTEL USERS

  • Step 1:
    Tap on “Settings”
  • Step 2:
    Select “Network & internet”
  • Step 3:
    Select “SIM card & mobile network”
  • Step 4:
    Select “5G (preferred) /4G/3G/2G”
  • Step 5:
    Tap on “Restart”

Note:
1.If the Jio/Airtel app prompts that “your device does not support 5G”, the likely reason is that the particular model isn’t listed among the 5G-compatible models displayed on the operator’s system. For avoidance of doubt, it is clarified that this notification does not impact the actual functionality of your mobile phone for 5G usage as the actual synchronization with the network operator may take some time in few instances. Highly appreciate your support and understanding.

2.Failure to activate the VoNR (5G calling) service may affect 5G network registration during a call. Currently the VoNR service is only supported in some cities. Consult your carrier for details, after activating the VoNR service, the display of 4G or 5G during a call depends on the carrier’s network.
