vivo’s commitment to India: Strengthening retail touchpoints, After Sales Service Centre and Local Manufacturing
At vivo, the development of a thriving ecosystem leads to growth and development opportunities that go beyond only selling the products we create. As the Indian government’s ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiative gains momentum, we’ve pledged our unwavering support to bolster the self-reliant smartphone industry in India. Our unwavering focus has been on implementing a long-term vision that firmly embeds our commitment to the country. We’ve adopted a holistic, comprehensive and integrated approach that has a direct and indirect impact on millions of lives.
India’s economic development hinges on promoting exports, and at vivo, we’re honoured to play our part in advancing the nation’s growth story. We take immense pride in contributing to the Prime Minister’s vision of establishing India as a prominent export hub. In a significant stride towards achieving this objective, we’re all set to export over one million ‘Made in India’ vivo smartphones to the world in 2023. This monumental accomplishment marks a significant milestone in our journey, and we’re committed to continuing our efforts to empower the country’s growth and development.
Every vivo phone sold in India, is made in India.
As an early adopter of the ‘Make in India’ initiative, setting up our own state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in the country was just the beginning. We furthered our contribution to the initiative by introducing Surface Mounting Technology (SMT) lines, making it possible to achieve higher domestic value addition in smartphone production. Today, our manufacturing plant in India boasts a remarkable monthly capacity of approximately 5 million smartphones, achieved by consolidating 20% of the plant’s existing capacity in 2022.
