V70 and V70 Elite: Designed to Feel Premium in Every Touch

When we introduced vivo V Series, it was built on two pillars: camera and design. The vision was simple: to create smartphones that look premium and capture life beautifully, while staying effortless in hand. From introducing the 20MP Moonlight Selfie Camera in vivo V5 to the Immersive Pop-up Camera Design on the vivo V15 Pro and features like AI Imaging and Eye Autofocus, every leap was shaped by how consumers actually shoot and share moments. Each generation refined slimness, grip, display immersion and imaging precision, always evolving with user behaviour.
That journey now enters its most evolved phase. With the all new V70 and V70 Elite, the V Series steps into a more mature premium space – where camera excellence meets sophistication. In an exclusive conversation, the India Product Team dives into the materials, form, colours and subtle micro-details that shape the first-touch experience of the V70 and V70 Elite. The team also explores how premium today is not just about how a phone looks, but how calmly and intuitively it fits into the user’s hand and life.
Q. How has the evolution of V70 and V70 Elite been vs its predecessors? What stayed, what changed, and why?
With the all new V70 and V70 Elite, we deliberately moved the V Series into a more mature premium design space while preserving its core identity of being slim, comfortable and expressive. What stayed constant is our focus on a clean back, refined camera deco, and a device that feels effortless to hold over long durations.
What has changed is the overall visual and tactile sophistication: a new aerospace grade aluminium frame, ultra narrow bezels design with the side bezels reduced to just 0.125 cm, making it the Segment’s Narrowest Bezel Smartphone1 under ₹50K and a flagship metallic camera module that visually anchors the phone.
We also tightened the form with near perfect rounded corners and a lower camera bump, so the device now feels more precise.
Q. Could you tell us about the core design philosophies and the first touch experience?
As a brand, our outlook towards the V70 and V70 Elite was “better looking and better to use”. That simply means, every aesthetic decision had to unlock a functional benefit for the in-hand feel, ergonomics, or usability. This has been brought to life with the golden grip which allows the perfect one hand use, that feels natural, agile and effortless.

The moment users pick it up, we wanted them to sense an ease but a confident device with solid metal edges, a soft matte back, and a display that visually “disappears” thanks to the narrow bezels.
For V70 and V70 Elite, we focused on 3 primary pillars; visual lightness (slim profile, low noise surfaces), tactile richness (metallic frame, metallic grit glass, controlled curvature), and intuitive balance (stable grip, even weight distribution).
This results in a phone that feels exquisitely premium not because it shouts, but because everything from edges to transitions moves seamlessly with your instinct and hand.
Q. What was the starting insight behind the V70 and V70 Elite Colour, Material, Finish (CMF) story?
The inception for the new V70 and V70 Elite emerged from an insight about users moving up to the premium experience. Users want their phone to look distinctive, but not loud, and to age gracefully without constant cleaning or cases.
At the same time, Indian users told us they still value slimness and lightness, but not at the cost of that reassuring “substance” that makes a device feel trustworthy.
This led us to a CMF direction that blends expressive colors with understated finishes: a glass back which will be found only in the Passion Red and Lemon Yellow variant with a brand new metallic grit process, aerospace grade metal that holds its sharpness, and a camera module that looks flagship yet remains low profile in daily use.
V70 and V70 Elite’s CMF story is essentially about quiet confidence; surfaces that stay clean, colors that feel personal, and details that you keep discovering over time.
Q. How did you balance premium compactness with substance and stability?
The V70 and V70 Elite feel petite yet strong because of its slim body, tightened radii and ultra narrow bezels, but it feels substantial because of how we shaped and weighted the frame. We refined the higher order curves around the corners (10.4mm radius in the display area and 12.5 mm in the frame) so the phone nestles comfortably in one’s palm, instead of digging into it.
The aerospace grade aluminium frame brings a cool, precise edge that visually thins the device while structurally reinforcing it. A low 3.29 mm camera bump helps the phone sit flatter on surfaces, reducing wobble and subconsciously signalling stability every time you tap on a table or type one handed.
Q. What role did edges, curves, and surface transitions play in making the phone feel refined upon touch?
Using a smartphone is a sensory experience and its edges and curves are where your hand “reads” the design. We spent significant effort on how each surface transitions into the next. The V70 and V70 Elite’s frame uses smooth, continuous curvature with micrometre level control on oxidation thickness, allowing the metal to catch light cleanly without feeling sharp.
On the back, our new metallic grit glass finish introduces micron scale texture on the surface, giving a soft matte touch that is skin friendly, fingerprint resistant and visually refined. The ultra thin bezels create an almost borderless front, drawing users into content while making the device footprint smaller for the same display size.
This bezel work directly improves one hand use: less horizontal reach, better thumb access, and a more immersive screen that feels like it floats above the frame.
Q. Colors play a major role in smartphone as they set the tone for style and usability. What stories do the different colours of V70 and V70 Elite tell?
Colors play an important role when it comes to smartphones. Through colors, each device is perceived in a different way altogether. In a market as wide as India, it’s important to bring in colorways that resonate with the users, to make them a part of the story. With this new generation of the V Series, we want each color to feel like a distinct personality of its own just like our users.
Passion Red channels confidence and celebration, reflecting moments of festivity and joy. It brings out the performances that V70 and V70 Elite are designed to capture with its ZEISS telephoto camera. It exudes richness and sophistication, softly blending into one’s personality and style.
Lemon Yellow represents optimism, creativity and everyday spontaneity. It is bright enough to feel playful but controlled by the matte, metallic grit texture so it stays wearable, pairing well with both casual and streetwear aesthetics.
Sand Beige is our answer to quiet luxury in smartphones. It is calm, warm and highly versatile, designed to complement both professional and minimal lifestyles, while the subtle texture ensures it never looks flat or plasticky.
Authentic Black is timeless and neutral. It is for users who prefer simplicity and classic appeal, a dependable choice that never feels out of place.
Across the V70 and V70 Elite, color psychology played a key role. From the bold energy of red to the playful creativity of yellow, the understated elegance of beige and the timelessness of black, each shade is thoughtfully tuned to reflect personality.

Q. Premium is a combination of visual appeal and being tactile – in your opinion what micro details stand out for V70 and V70 Elite that users can notice in an instant?
In the premium segment, many devices converge on similar silhouettes, so CMF becomes the clearest differentiator. What makes the V70 and V70 Elite stand out is a combination of aerospace grade metal frame, near perfect rounded corners, metallic camera module, and metallic grit glass that balances visual minimalism with tactile richness.
For us, CMF isn’t just about the feel it’s also about functionality. The ultra narrow bezels reduce reach, a low and refined camera bump, textures that resist fingerprints, and a frame finish that elevates jewellery like detailing over loud branding. Together, these elements allow V70 and V70 Elite to occupy a “design led yet practical” space; a phone that looks flagship on the table and feels intuitive in the hand.

The V70 and V70 Elite are writing a new story for smartphones in India and if the philosophy behind the series had to be summed up in one line, it would say, “Premium calm, engineered for touch.” Every color, curve, texture and material are intentionally tuned so that the device doesn’t just look better, it gently feels better – today, and years down the line.
